Hi, I’m Jason Malone.
I’ve spent 25 years designing the systems that help educators and organizations change how they teach, train, and learn. I’ve worked at every level of that challenge — from co-founding a school and building its curriculum from the ground up, to facilitating workshops for educators in four countries, to designing federal grant-funded curriculum frameworks that the International Baccalaureate Organization used to develop official training programs.
My background is rooted in K–12 education, but the work I’m most proud of has always lived at the intersection of learning design and human change: figuring out not just what people need to know, but how to build the conditions where they actually adopt it.
I’ve made a deliberate decision to move my work into environments where instructional design and professional learning are the core product — not a function competing for resources and attention. After 25 years of pushing for innovation inside institutions that often resist it, I’m energized by the opportunity to bring that expertise somewhere it will be welcomed and fully used.
I’m based in Fort Collins, Colorado, and available for remote and hybrid roles. I continue to work in an advisory and consulting capacity through NicheEd Group and as an IB coordinator, while actively pursuing full-time roles in EdTech, instructional design, and professional learning.

Instructional Design &
Learning Systems
I design learning experiences that work — not just in theory, but in practice, with real learners under real constraints. My design experience spans curriculum architecture, competency-based frameworks, LMS implementation, faculty onboarding, eLearning development, and assessment system design across K–16 and professional contexts.
AI & Instructional Technology
I hold a prompt engineering certification from Vanderbilt University and work as an AI trainer and evaluator through the Handshake AI Fellowship, where I assess AI-generated content and provide structured feedback to improve model outputs. I bring not just familiarity with AI tools, but a practitioner’s judgment about where they add real value in learning design.
Professional Learning &
Adult Development
I design and deliver professional learning for educators, faculty, and organizational teams. My facilitation approach is grounded in adult learning theory: begin with what people already know, build through collaborative inquiry, and connect everything to what they’ll actually do on Monday. I’ve delivered 120+ workshops to 2,000+ adult learners across in-person, virtual, and hybrid settings.
IB Curriculum & Program Evaluation
I’ve been an IB Workshop Leader, Curriculum Consultant, and Program Evaluator since 2004. I’ve supported schools through PYP & MYP implementation, Personal Project design, ATL skill development, and formal program evaluation across multiple contexts and at all grade levels, K-12.
