Overview

I designed competency-based learning systems from the ground up in two structurally different contexts. At Compass, I built a domain-and-degree-based model organized around four skill domains and eight competencies, with students advancing through four Levels of Autonomy based on demonstrated mastery rather than age or seat time.

At WonderED, I designed a mastery-evidence model where credit was calculated as Quality × Complexity of evidence across five flexible learning elements and three differentiated graduation pathways.

Both models were fully implemented, refined through years of real-world operation, and produced measurable outcomes: at WonderED, attendance increased from approximately 15% to over 90% and family engagement grew from under 5% to approximately 50%.
